Common Mistakes When Working with Icons and How to Avoid Them
Share
Many designers face the issue that icons in one pack look inconsistent. The most common mistake is different line weights across elements. This breaks style unity. To avoid it, create a base grid and rules (stroke weight, corner radius) first, then apply them to all icons.
Another problem is over-detailing. When an icon has too many lines, it becomes hard to read at small sizes. The solution is to start with simple shapes and add details only where they are truly needed for symbol recognition.
Also, testing on different backgrounds is often ignored. An icon may look good on white but disappear on dark. We recommend checking every element on light, dark, and colored backgrounds during creation. This makes the pack more versatile and useful in real projects.
